NASA Astronauts to Answer Questions from Students in Ohio

NASA astronauts Michael Fincke and Zena Cardman are bringing the excitement of space exploration directly to students in Ohio! On August 27th, these experienced astronauts will be answering questions from high school students at Glen Oak High School in Canton, Ohio, as part of a live event streamed on the NASA Learn With NASA YouTube channel. This isn’t just a viewing party; it’s an incredible opportunity for students to engage with real astronauts currently working aboard the International Space Station. The session will focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) topics, providing valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of space exploration. The NASA Astronauts to Answer Questions from Students in Ohio event is a fantastic way to learn about careers in STEM fields.

A Unique Learning Opportunity

This isn’t just a viewing party; it’s an incredible opportunity for students to engage with real astronauts currently working aboard the International Space Station. The session will focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) topics, providing valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of space exploration.

How It Works

  1. Live Stream: Tune in to the live stream starting at 10:15 a.m. EDT on NASA’s Learn With NASA YouTube channel.
  2. Student Questions: Students from the STEM Academy at Glen Oak High School will be able to submit their questions for the astronauts in real-time.
  3. Astronaut Answers: Astronauts Fincke and Cardman will provide expert responses, offering a firsthand perspective on life and work in space.

The Bigger Picture

This event highlights NASA’s ongoing efforts to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. For nearly 25 years, astronauts have continuously lived and worked aboard the International Space Station, conducting research that benefits people on Earth and paving the way for future missions to Mars – a key component of NASA’s Artemis campaign. The STEM Academy at Glen Oak High School will host this event in Canton, Ohio for high school students. The goal of this event is to expose learners to the excitement and challenges of engineering and technology, while bringing space exploration to life through cross-curricular instruction and language arts.
