Last week marked our initial Release Candidate snapshot for 4.5.1, and since then, even more critical bug fixes have emerged that are suitable for backporting. Consequently, we’re taking one final pass to ensure a robust release: Godot 4.5.1-rc2 is now available! Our primary focus remains ensuring the hotfix release is as stable as possible; therefore, please thoroughly test this build and report any issues not present in the stable 4.5 version.

What’s New in Godot 4.5.1 RC2

Key Improvements and Fixes
This release candidate reflects a continued effort to refine the godot 4.5.1 hotfix series, prioritizing stability and reliability before its final release. The following highlights some notable changes:
- 2D: A redundant call of
CanvasItemEditor::_update_lock_and_group_buttonon theSceneTreeEditornode selection has been fixed (GH-110320). - 3D: The cell scale issue that wasn’t correctly applying to the cursor mesh in GridMap has been resolved (GH-104510).
- Animation: A bug causing issues with backward/pingpong root motion within AnimationTree has been addressed (GH-110982).
- Animation: A problem where resetting on save corrupted poses when a scene had multiple Skeletons has been fixed (GH-110506).
- Core: The error message related to reserving memory with insufficient capacity has been improved for greater clarity (GH-110826).
- Documentation: The descriptions of
Node2D.move_local_{x,y}()have been clarified and enhanced (GH-110794). - Rendering: A crash that occurred when setting a viewport to fullscreen after resizing has been resolved (GH-110853).
- Rendering: Performance on Apple Silicon devices has been improved by reducing shader compilation overhead (GH-110742). This optimization further enhances the experience for users of godot on these platforms.
