MaterialMaker Review: Is It Worth The Hype?

October 18, 2025

Last week marked our initial Release Candidate snapshot for 4.5.1, and since then, even more critical bug fixes have emerged that are suitable for backporting. Consequently, we’re taking one final pass to ensure a robust release: Godot 4.5.1-rc2 is now available! Our primary focus remains ensuring the hotfix release is as stable as possible; therefore, please thoroughly test this build and report any issues not present in the stable 4.5 version.

Furthermore, if you are able, kindly consider supporting the project financially. Godot’s development is driven by volunteers and a small team of paid contributors. Your donations directly sponsor their work and enable them to dedicate their full attention to the needs of the godot project.

Jump to the Downloads section to get started, or continue reading for more details about the improvements in this release. You can also test the Web editor, the XR editor, or the Android editor for this release. If you’re interested in testing the Android editor, please request to join our testing group to access pre-release builds.

Key Improvements and Fixes

This release candidate reflects a continued effort to refine the godot 4.5.1 hotfix series, prioritizing stability and reliability before its final release. The following highlights some notable changes:

  • 3D: The cell scale issue that wasn’t correctly applying to the cursor mesh in GridMap has been resolved (GH-104510).
  • Animation: A bug causing issues with backward/pingpong root motion within AnimationTree has been addressed (GH-110982).
  • Animation: A problem where resetting on save corrupted poses when a scene had multiple Skeletons has been fixed (GH-110506).
  • Core: The error message related to reserving memory with insufficient capacity has been improved for greater clarity (GH-110826).
  • Documentation: The descriptions of Node2D.move_local_{x,y}() have been clarified and enhanced (GH-110794).
  • Rendering: A crash that occurred when setting a viewport to fullscreen after resizing has been resolved (GH-110853).
